Tirana, August 13, 2024

The Council of Albanian Ambassadors has followed with special attention the protest of August 12, 2024 of Albanians living in Serbia against Serbia’s state discrimination, a legitimate protest and requests in defense of their civil rights and ethnic identity.

Subsequently, the Council of Albanian Ambassadors has denounced the absurd behavior of the Serbian state towards Albanians, especially the passivation of addresses and the denial of their national rights, which are also sanctioned in the Constitution of Serbia and which apply to every other minority.

The Council of Albanian Ambassadors considers discriminatory the lack of basic rights for a normal life refusing to respect the three agreements signed with the Albanian representatives.

We will not stop supporting our sisters and brothers of the Presheva Valley in their efforts to be treated as equal citizens. Their voice and that of their political representatives must be heard and respected!

The Council of Albanian Ambassadors calls on the authorities in Belgrade to respect all the obligations arising from the European Convention on the Rights of Minorities that Serbia has signed and to stop any form of discrimination against Albanians living in their centuries-old lands in the Presheva Valley.
