The Council of Albanian Ambassadors welcomes the decision of the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Ms. Kaja Kallas, to appoint Danish diplomat Mr. Peter Sørensen as the EU Special Representative for the dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia.
The selection of Mr. Sørensen, a diplomat with outstanding experience in regional affairs and a strong commitment to promoting stability and cooperation in the Western Balkans, represents a significant step forward in the efforts to normalize relations between the two countries.
The fact that Mr. Sørensen hails from Denmark, an EU member state that has recognized the independence of the Republic of Kosovo, adds value to the dialogue process. This element enhances his credibility as a mediator and reflects support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kosovo.
The Council of Albanian Ambassadors underscores the importance of an open, inclusive, and equal dialogue, urging the parties to engage with seriousness and constructiveness in addressing unresolved issues. Such a process is essential to ensuring peace, stability, and further integration of the region into Euro-Atlantic structures.
The Council expresses its full support for the European Union’s efforts and Mr. Sørensen in this critical role and encourages the international community to continue supporting the Euro-Atlantic future of Kosovo and the entire Western Balkans region.
