Tirana, January 28, 2025

On this Holocaust Memorial Day, the Council of Albanian Ambassadors joins the international community in honoring the memory of six million Jews and countless others who were brutally murdered by the Nazi’s regimes during one of the darkest periods of the European history.

We also pay tribute to the survivors, whose resilience continues to inspire generations.

This day serves as a solemn reminder of the horrors that can arise from hatred, intolerance, and indifference. It is an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to the principles of human rights, dignity, and coexistence.

We take pride of Albania’s unique history during the WW II, where Albanians, guided by their unwavering code of honor, Besa, risked their lives to protect and shelter Jewish families, demonstrating extraordinary compassion and courage.

Let us stand united in the fight against antisemitism, racism, and all forms of discrimination. By remembering the past, we honor the victims and ensure that such atrocities are never repeated.
