Japan and Albania enjoy more than 100 years of friendship. Ever since, Japan has been a continuous supporter of Albania and among first countries to recognize the independence of the Republic of Kosovo.

Ambassador KATO made a brief introduction on Japan’s diplomacy including “Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP)” and the “Western Balkans Cooperation Initiatives” as well as Japan-Albania relations to our Council.

Japan has been undertaking concrete projects under Japan’s official development assistance (ODA) in Albania, such as helping several municipalities with firetrucks, local hospitals with medical equipment, and many more.

Japan is a major contributor in the United Nations system and plays a very important role in the multilateral and global issues.

Through its Western Balkans Cooperation Initiatives launched in 2018, Japan has been assisting Albania and other Western Balkan countries with the aim to support their socio-economic reforms toward their EU accession by establishing rule of law and democracy.

In this globalized international community, it is to be noted that the regional peace and stability is closely connected with the peace and stability in the international community as a whole.

We assured her Excellency of our assistance in strengthening our relation as we got her full support to collaborate with the Council of Albanian Ambassadors in promoting business opportunities, tourism, cultural and people-to-people exchange in our countries.
